World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra
The World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra is an organization that was founded by the Mexican master composer and conductor Alejandro Sánchez-Navarro. From its foundation in 2000 it has undertaken to appear under the auspice of various government offices and private companies with the objective to present works composed by Maestro Sánchez-Navarro, in particular to communicate and illustrate with beautiful images of nature the imminent conclusion of an era of environmental irresponsibility and imbalance with the birth of the expansion of conscience and the renewed harmonization of human beings with mother Earth.
The philosophy behind the World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra is to promote culture and preserve the environment in Mexico and in the rest of the world through art.
The planet’s salvation, humanity’s healing, the following step, the true sense of life, the awakening to a superior conscience.

Concert offered to the environment
By Pedro Martínez
Sublime were the notes offered by the Orchestra and Choirs of the World Heritage Philharmonic Thursday evening at the Fernando Soler Theater.

With the public standing in ovation, the Philharmonic Orchestra offered musical poems covering subjects on mountains, rivers, seas, and reefs. Conducted by composer and maestro Alejandro Sánchez Navarro, the musicians performed the musical works dedicated to nature for the more than one thousand Saltilloans present at the Fernando Soler Theater.
“Concert for Health and the Environment” was the name of the gala organized by the ISSSTE in coordination with the Coahuila Cultural Institute, with the objective of raising people’s awareness of the need to care for the environment.
Life and nature were present with “The Divine Persuasion”, a six movement suite that the maestro Sánchez Navarro executed with virtuosity. “It is a series of works written for nature. Following is a work that narrates the odyssey of one of the animal kingdom’s greatest migrations, the one carried out by the Monarch butterfly from Canada to our land”, he expressed. Thus followed “Flight South”, inspired by the Monarch butterfly’s odyssey, which provoked enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Accompanied by an aeolian choir and a video showing images of nature, the conductor shared with those present his work “Night Love by the Reefs”. “It is a work I composed for the island of Cozumel. You know that reefs keep an ancestral memory of what life has been on this planet”, he indicated, “and in addition to the music you will see a movie that really paints what reefs are about”.
In synchronicity with
the projection, Sánchez Navarro also conducted his
musicians to interpret “Flames”. “When I wrote Flames I
thought it was going to be a bit fearful, but in the end
I produced something very sensuous”, he mentioned.
“Bell Turn” was an intense and colorful piece in which the author’s passion was pronounced in the sounds of each instrument. “This piece is an ancestral term, an esoteric philosophy that speaks of circles of energy, and that sometimes, when we are in the darkness, we find there is always a moment of light”, he explained.
Before the intermission, Sánchez Navarro conducted “The Reverberant", a work created and inspired by the healing powers. “Since it is a concert for health, we will interpret this piece which refers to the power of life”, he confirmed.
The music members returned and played “Paradise” unleashing a sonorous ovation for the excellent performance of the instruments.
Precision and beauty defined “Si’an Kan Dolphins” and “The Last Mountain”, this last one clearly revealing the musical understanding between conductor and orchestra, which the public noticed and awarded with a long ovation.
The choirs recovered strength in the last part of the recital and accompanied “Symphony of the Sea”, a piece that moved spectators to their feet and had them applauding with pleasure derived from the interpretation.
Love for nature
To create works that celebrate life, nature, and that
paint beautiful scenery is what maestro Alejandro
Sánchez Navarro seeks in each of his works. “Some time
ago I wrote the music for a film about the Scorpion Reef,
and since then I followed that path naturally”, he said,
“and I have been writing a series of works inspired by
nature; for example, part of a suite I will present
today speaks of all the mountains in America, from the
north pole all the way to the south pole”.
For the orchestra conductor nature is his greatest source of inspiration because he considers it the true magic of the world. “I try to express the passive part of nature, and it might be confused with new age or with something very peaceful”, he said.
But Sánchez Navarro
does not forget his roots, because his ancestors lived
in Saltillo.
"The scenery is very dear to me, and I believe this is
somewhat genetic because my family arrived here many
years ago and stayed for about three centuries, so that
is why this place is very special for me”, he continued.
“I have made work especially for Saltillo, that speaks
of its deserts”.

Art and environmental
conscience, health and music, ISSSTE and the World
Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra will offer a symphonic-visual
concert
By Angeles Pino Villela /Cambio de Michoacán
“We have to be aware of the fact that our health depends on the environment, and together with the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) we want there to be an awareness of this”, commented Alejandro Sanchez Navarro, musician, composer and orchestra conductor, after having announced that ISSSTE, together with the World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra, are offering symphonic-visual concerts in favor of health and the environment all over Mexico, and it is Morelia’s turn now. “We have been in the Federal District, the State of Mexico and other places, but now it is time to be in Morelia, and then we will continue to other places, such as Guadalajara, Acapulco, Puebla, Veracruz and many more”, Sanchez Navarro explained.
The concert, to be held on 8th August at the premises of the Morelos Theater from 20:00 hrs, is a spectacle that mixes music and visuals inspired in nature itself, although one is not to expect a new age concert, as the composer commented: “It is not a new age concert; we will show images that could even be violent, but we must learn that they are part of nature and cannot be ignored”.
The purpose of the concert is for everyone to have the opportunity to become aware of caring for the environment, and therefore their own health, and to understand that what we do now will have an effect in our future. “We want whoever comes here to stop thinking a bit about his or her problems and become more attuned to the world”, the conductor exclaimed.
With the same intention, trees will be handed out during the concert to all those who assist. “We don’t know how many trees they are, but at least we expect to have one per person”, so it is expected that the Morelos Theater will be at full capacity. “We know the theater is not very large, and we would have preferred something where more people could participate, but at least we expect this one to fill up”, the musician contemplated.
Sánchez Navarro is Mexican, and stands out for a numerous array of symphonic works dedicated to nature. He founded the World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra, which from its beginning has appeared in various places to present his works for nature. It is integrated by more than one hundred musicians from various orchestras.
The concert is open to everyone and will be free. For more information, call 33-13-37-46.

Premiere of Hymn to Cozumel, during grand musical
concert
More than five hundred people attend the great event

Cozumel, 5th April.- With 110 artists on the set, conducted by maestro Alejandro Sanchez Navarro, the World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra offered a magnificent concert at the Benito Juarez park in the afternoon of Wednesday 4th April, sponsored by the town council. As the sun was setting, painting the sky with warm tones of orange and yellow, the World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra appeared and the Cozumel public enjoyed the marvelous voices accompanying the musicians, awakening deep emotions with the rhythms of ninety instruments played by musicians of various nationalities that harmoniously accompanied the sunset with the melody “The Divine Persuasion”. The orchestra delighted the public for more than two hours with melodies created by the conductor, who took advantage of the spaces between melodies to interact with the public and explain the reason for establishing this group of music professionals and their objectives. He said that they pretend to forge a conscience about nature as humanity’s heritage, and to promote the responsible care for nature through one of the seven arts, as complex and exciting as music is.
The maestro thanked the town council for its effort to bring to Cozumel this type of world class event, and pointed out energetically the important work of Gustavo Ortega Joaquin, for being a distinguished promoter of culture and for the conservation of the environment, and for instilling a love for the arts on the island of Cozumel.
The orchestra’s repertoire included Siankaan Dolphins, Reverberant, Flames, among others, before the Hymn to Cozumel was presented.
The instruments and voices unleashed emotions again upon interpreting for the second time in Cozumel the symphony Night of Love by the Reefs, which had been presented in December of last year.
Musician by vocation, Sanchez Navarro took opportunity of the event to perform for the first time his new composition, Symphony of the Sea, which was accompanied by impressive images by the diver Alberto Friscione.
But the climax of the evening arrived when at about nine in the evening a symphonic version of the just premiered Hymn to Cozumel was first sung to the public of Cozumel, which was interpreted by the voices of the Town Council’s Youth Choir, of the Municipal School of Music. At the end of the piece, among the applause of the proud island dwellers, the conductor announced also a version of the beloved Hymn to Quintana Roo, which was sung not only by the experts, but by some of those present in the public, who sang with great respect.
But that was not all. As farewell, the musicians offered to the more than 500 tourists and locals present at the event a version, in the majestic style of the maestro Alejandro Sánchez Navarro, of the song “Dream of me, Quintana Roo”, which although not the official hymn, it is very dear to all Quintanarooans.
With the 134th
Anniversary of the Death of the Hero
IN OAXACA, WORLD PREMIERE OF SYMPHONIC WORK DEDICATED TO
JUAREZ
The work is “Elegy to Humanity”, written by Alejandro Sanchez-Navarro in honor of Benito Juarez, and the Symphonic Orchestra of Oaxaca interpreted its world premiere here last Tuesday evening, within the frame of the 134th anniversary of the death of the Mexican hero. The concert took place at the central patio of the Beaux Arts School of the UABJO, organized by the State Commission of Oaxaca that organized the festivities for the bicentennial of Benito Juarez Garcia’s birth, whose president is the governor, Mr. Ulises Ruiz Ortiz, and its executive secretary is Mr. Raul Castellanos Hernández.
Alejandro Sanchez, Mexican composer graduated from the National Conservatory of Mexico, explained that his work begins with a flute solo evoking the origin of Juarez, that magical lagoon, the enchanted one, integrating the melody with a moment of tension that reflects today’s epoch, similar to the one lived by the patriarch, a time when there was the unmeasured passion of a restless river.
The melody concludes with the maxim “Respect for others’ rights is peace”, which on this occasion was interpreted by the Choir of the City of Oaxaca conducted by Israel Rivera Pérez.
The author mentioned that “Juarez is a symbol, a predestined being who was able to triumph with the great confidence he lay on his principles, and that is why he is the great champion of the law”. He said that having composed this work was a privilege, because there is no other like the Guelatao colossus, who embodies liberty and is our liberator. Without Juarez, Mexico would not exist. Therefore, having worked on this homage has been the greatest in my career”.
He explained that to write this symphonic work he read various documents about the life and times of the liberator: “mainly what pushed this work was this philosophical idea that principles are everything and not the individuals, as he showed along his career and his fight”. He indicated that “Elegy to Humanity” was conceived with the intention that it not only be interpreted during the bicentennial year, but that it may be played around the world during the next ten years, so that is why he applied the standard number of musicians for symphonic orchestras.
He said that there are about 30 symphonic orchestras in Mexico that can play this work, and an infinite number around the world, so the idea is to take it to all corners to spread the thinking of Juarez. Visibly moved, the author indicated that the setting for the world premiere was in accordance with the transcendence of the homage it means for him to have written this symphonic work: “I really feel grateful with the city of Oaxaca, because the place was beautiful, with the fireworks, the words, and that it took place in the anniversary of the death of Juarez had a new meaning”.
For his part, the executive secretary of the Juarez Commission, Raul Castellanos Hernandez, promoted the idea of the governor of the state, Ulises Ruiz Ortiz, to carry out festivities for the bicentennial of the birth of Juárez, as an important part to recognize the greatness of his work and his democratic and liberal provision to the nation.
At the end of the audition, maestro Alejandro Sanchez Navarro handed his original score to the State Commission of Oaxaca that organized the festivities, and that organ gave the author a recognition. The minister of culture, Patricia Zarate, and the rector of the UABJO, Francisco Martinez Neri, were present among other guests.
Concert for Chetumal
As a means of transport to a magical world of marine life and reefs of Quintana Roo through music, the World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra delighted for more than two hours more than three thousand spectators who enjoyed a wonderful concert, with its 90 musicians, among them young female violinists who are the pride of Chetumal, and 20 choir members, that appeared at the Habitat II poly-functional module of the Proterritorio neighborhood of this city.
The concert, conducted by Alejandro Sanchez Navarro, was dedicated to the care of the ocean, its species and reef zones, aimed at a vast public of Chetumal that followed the video-graphic material with the rhythm of musical themes about the care of marine nature and life.
The mayor of Othon P. Blanco, Ms. Cora Amalia Castilla Madrid, who made it possible for these international musicians to offer the concert, was the guest of honor of the event where the president of the Quintana Roo Institute of Culture, María Hadad Castillo, was also present, with the personal representation of the governor of the state, Mr. Felix Arturo Gonzalez Canto.

The theme that opened the event was “Concert for Reefs”, which the symphony dedicated to the guardians of the ocean; the second theme was titled “Sian kaan Dolphins”, which delighted the audience with video images created by the oceanographer Roberto Friscioni; the third theme was “Reverberant”, that was accompanied by choirs and was composed to nature, mainly the cosmic laws.
“Dance of Lightning”, agreeing with lightning and electricity, was the fourth theme, followed by “Flames”, related to fire and the damage it can cause if not handled properly.
After the presentation of the guests, the orchestra was introduced by sections, composed of four groups, of strings, woods, metals and percussion, and choir, which gave way to the sixth musical theme, “Acapulco for Chetumal”, and after that “Divine Percussion”, characterized for offering a state of tranquility, as well as “Bell Turn”, an ancestral theme that expresses a dark circle that returns to light.

The stellar theme “Symphony of the Sea”, represented the coral reefs of Cozumel and the Mayan Riviera, with a range of marine life among algae and other forms of life that, according to the creator Friscioni, was a great challenge with the symphony because sea and music can be one and the same, and so fish and reefs produce the theme of the sea.
“Last Battle”, in honor of nations that fight for
freedom, closed the spectacular presentation in the
Proterritorio neighborhood of this city, where among
others were the State General Attorney, Bello Melchor
Rodríguez Carrillo; the State Secretary of Finances,
Freddy Marrufo Martín; the local deputy, Gastón Alegre
López, the director of the Quintana Roo Institute of
Culture, Elina Coral Castilla, and the head of the
Secretary of the Comptroller, Antonio Baduy Moscoso.

Music for the Earth Concert in Xcaret

At 8:30 in the evening of Wednesday at the outdoor theater of Xcaret, the World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra appeared, where hundreds of people received spring with “Concert Music for Earth” work of the maestro Alejandro Sánchez Navarro, in the benefit of the Flora, Fauna and Culture of Mexico Foundation (FFyCM), in favor of the conservation of the Meso-American Reef. As foreseen, the presentation, with 85 musicians and 20 choir members, delighted the public, which listened attentively to the interpretation of the Mexican creator’s new composition, “Night of Love by the Reefs”, work accompanied by the projection of aquatic images that shows deep respect and love for the fragile marine ecosystems, which are the composer’s main source of creative inspiration.
Inspiring nature
Sanchez Navarro, who has presented his works in various forums of the state of Quintana Roo to support altruistic works for the benefit of the country’s natural heritage, in this case of the state, which is at constant risk due to the impact of man’s work, is a committed person who dedicates part of his time to altruistic works and is not only available to defend the environment, but also Mexico’s history and culture. “We always look for the benefit for the environment and culture”, said the composer, and explained that in the spring of 2008 he expects to appear with the World Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra in the archeological zone of Tulum, with a concert in benefit of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), which was foreseen for this year but permission from the authorities was not obtained on time. For ten years the main theme of the composer’s works, to which he dedicates most of his time when he is not traveling around the country, has been the environment and culture, because according to his concept, his music combined with images is a form of sensitizing people who are removed from these themes. “Part of the effort is to obtain funds, but the most important thing is for people, through the music and the images of nature, to learn to help to make changes”, he commented. He is preparing his next work, inspired in the desert, which he will present in forums in the north of Mexico, as he informed in an exclusive interview with Novedades Quintana Roo before his presentation at the Xcaret park. Music was also heard in front of the Caribbean Sea of Playa del Carmen, at the Kool beach club, where the spring was being received almost simultaneously by lovers of didactic music who had gone to the “Vive Vivaldi” concert, executed by musicians of the Mexico City Chamber Orchestra as part of the festivities of the anniversary of a local tourist magazine. To the compass of the waves moved by the wind, the notes of the “Four Stations” impregnated with the smell of the sea the public’s senses in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.
